After years of having my students tell me that I need to narrate audiobooks, and replying over and over again with, “Oh, yeah, that’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I did do some voice work just last yea…wait…three years…oh, no, twelve years ago,” an ever-entrepreneurial, highly motivated family member threw his own hat into the ring and, just as I did when I followed him into an actual ring of haunted stones in a vault in Edinburgh, I said…what the heck? So I finally did what I’ve been wanting to do for a REALLY long time and set up a studio in the basement, put my equipment together, re-taught myself about mastering audio (a lot has changed, and definitely for the better), and am putting myself out there again in a totally rad way. What I’ve discovered is that over the years of saying that I wanted to, just hadn’t yet…I had actually collected the bits and pieces that I needed and the whole kit and caboodle amounted to less than $20 to get started. I’m not naive enough to think that I won’t be upgrading like crazy as I go, but here I am world…it’s time.
